Affiliate Disclosure

Destivity earns money in two ways: the digital travel guides sold on this site, and affiliate commissions from some of the links inside our articles. This page explains the second one, because you should know how a link works before you click it.

The short version

If you buy something through a link on this site, we may receive a commission. The price you pay is the same as going direct. We do not publish sponsored posts, and no brand pays to appear in a guide.

What this means for you

  • You pay the same price. A commission comes out of the merchant’s margin, not your pocket.
  • We link to what we have used. A booking platform, a bag, a visa service — if it has not been tested on a real trip, it does not get a link.
  • Bad news gets published too. When the affiliate partner is also the thing going wrong, the article says so.
  • Editorial comes first. Where a recommendation is based on our own experience we say that; where it is based on research we say that as well.

Where affiliate links appear

  • Travel booking — flight, hotel, tour and transfer platforms.
  • Travel gear — the items we carry on our own trips.
  • Digital resources — tools and subscriptions in the travel resources section.

One pattern worth knowing: on our destination pages, the booking link sits next to the advice that costs the platform money — the cheaper season, the district to avoid, the airport transfer that is a ripoff. You get both, and you decide.
